Singaporian skies

Friday, April 9, 2010

The temperature here is the only constant factor in the weather, always warm, between 28 and 34 degrees.

For the rest, the weather is extremely precarious and unpredictable.
The type of weather that can create the most beautiful skies. The variation in sky color and cloud pattern is huge, I am fascinated.

Here is a selection of  Singapore sky shots:

Clouds over sea on Sentosa Island, with huge freight ships right lying before the shore.

The weather changes, in Colonial District

With heavy rains, we cannot even see the sea any longer, while it is very nearby.  Just behind the cranes of the port.

Still in bathing suit, I see clouds building up, looking from our pool at the Sail.

In clear weather, Indonesian islands can be seen in the sea.

High up at Sentosa we see the rain coming over fast. I already have caught a raindrop on my camera lens;-).

Dark clouds over sea.

A rain curtain limits our view.

Bad weather coming. In hindsight we should have turned around there and then. Instead we continued our 10 km walk through the rainforest and got totally soaked. Not funny, even a bit scary!

Sky after a beautiful, hot day.

Magical sky. Sun, clouds and a silver lining.

While strolling through the Botanical Gardens, the sky promised not much good, but fortunately  the rain came only after I was back at home.

Sunset seen from our living room. Soft colors, a layered sky and cottonball clouds.

Lilac and pink cottonball clouds at sunset.

We were dining al fresco, very romantic, at Indochine. The sunset and the view added a lot to the romantic ambiance.

Here they are building a new museum, shaped as  a lotus flower or an open hand. And what a gorgeous full moon, isn't it?

An hour later the effect was even more dramatic.

Never a dull moment, regarding the skies, the clouds, the sun and the moon...actually a bit as in my home country, the Netherlands. We have many different skies as well!
Loving it !
