Lantern Festival @ Chinese Garden 2011

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

The Lantern Festival is in town!
Last year I enjoyed this festival a lot at it's location on the river along Clarke Quay.
I had read though that in the past, the festival had been held @ Chinese Garden and that seemed like such a romantic backdrop for it! So you can imagine how excited I was to learn that this year the Lantern Festival is back @ Chinese Garden.
And indeed: it is gorgeous!
The theme is The World of Legends and sunday (the 18th) is the last day you can admire the Lantern Festival @ Chinese Garden.
There are performances too. It is special to walk through the gardens at night, surrounded by lights and people.

The man with the bow and arrow turns around on its base.

This display is in the water and it is huge!

This one is surrounded by water too, and the fish spits water.

The Pagoda looks different then usually (during the day). The lanterns and lighting give it a soft, pink look.

The Chinese Zodiac can not be missed, ofcourse.

Like this Horse.

And the Monkey (me;-))

And the Dog.

Many people walked around with lanterns. Young and old, locals and Ang Moh's. There are free lanterns available.

At one point it started to rain and drizzle, so people sheltered for a while.
If you like what you see on the pictures, make sure to go to the Lantern Festival @ Chinese Garden yourself. There are 6 evenings left and an adult ticket costs SGD 12.
