Gardens by the Bay, part 2

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

The Gardens by the Bay have two XL conservatories.

Let's have a look inside the Flower Dome.

As described by the Gardens by the Bay themselves: "Enter a world of perpetual spring, where unique plants bloom in an ever
changing display of flowers. Discover plants from the Mediterranean and semi-arid subtropical regions."

In this dome we find flora from different countries and regions and there is a separate, vast area with cactea and succulents.

For me, the 'blooming flower' area was quite disappointing. Maybe the flowers there were too common or familiar to me... But also the display of them was not appealing to me. Quite boring, (too) 'neatly' planted and simply not enough in quantity nor variety. Hopefully this part will literally grow and improve.

An impression in pictures:

The pictures above give a good impression of the scale of this glasshouse; it's really XXXL!

The pictures here under show some of the flowers:

So far for the Flower Dome for now; in tomorrow's post I bring you to the cactae and succulents area in this dome, which I found much more interesting. C ya tomorrow!
