Chunda Palace, Udaipur

So after our stay in Jaipur we arrived in Udaipur, another city filled with palaces and Maharaja heritage.

The hotel we had chosen was the Chunda Palace Hotel.

It looks beautiful, inside and out; very richly ornamented and decorated. Totally up my alley, but maybe too much for others.

Everything is decorated from top to bottom; unbelievable!

If you pay attention, you will notice that practically the whole hotel is made out of marble. Not surprising if you know that the hotel was built by a marble manufacturer;-).  He used a huge variety of marbles, in color, vains, patterns.

On the walls we find 3D murals, unique for Chunda Palace.

Not only the ceilings and walls are decorated, also the doors are pretty.

On our floor is this hallway with several doors leading to the hotel rooms.

The roof terrace with pool is fantastic!

At night it looks like a fairytale!

And the views are beautiful. Over the lake, the mountains, the City Palace and the islands with palaces.

In front of the City Palace we see the Taj Lake Palace hotel in the water.

If you like this style, I would definitely recommend the Chunda Palace Hotel. The staff was kind and very eager to get feedback and improve.

Unfortunately the food was a huge disappointment, breakfast was poor and they had no cappuccino. Further the rooms opened and closed with big, noisy bolts and locks (waking you up at night), walls were thin and the bed was very hard.

This hotel was way cheaper then e.g. the Imperial in Delhi, or the Rambagh Palace in Jaipur. But it was also not that cheap, especially not for Indian standards. For that money I would have expected  a bit more in the aspects that I mentioned above.
