What is there to see and do in Haarlem?

The other day someone asked me why I am blogging about India, while being in the Netherlands at the moment...don't I find Haarlem interesting enough to photograph and blog about?

The answer is: ofcourse Haarlem and Holland are beautiful as well !  I just want to continue with and finish my India series, while the memories are still relatively fresh;-).

While you can expect a few more posts about my past months in India, today I show you some pictures of things that make me happy in Haarlem:

Udaipur's animals

My most recent post about Udaipur featured it's colorful women. In today's post I'd like to share with you some of my animal pictures, taken when wandering through Udaipur's streets.

The number of cows, oxen, bulls, donkeys and camels is enormous. There are many dogs as well, but I only show you a tiny, pet puppy, named Tutti. And the adorned horses are used at weddings and other important ceremonies. Here they come:

A bit over three years ago, my husband got a job in Singapore and moved there from the Netherlands.

Due to circumstances I can not do the same, so since then my life looks like this: three months in Haarlem (in the Netherlands), three months in Singapore, three months in Haarlem, etcetera. When in Haarlem I live in my own house, in Singapore we rent an apartment.

The colorful women of Udaipur

Since three weeks I am back in cold, grey and rainy Holland. Nice to be in my house in Haarlem again, to enjoy my cat Guust, my friends and my family, of course. Only thing is that I hate the climate here and I miss the light and the colors of Rajasthan.

Looking at these pictures of women in Udaipur, wearing the most bright and colorful sarees, brings a bit of light and happiness on this gloomy, grey day in Haarlem;-).
